Multi-Sensory Space at Chessington World of Adventures

The team at Merlin Entertainment partnered with us to design and create a state-of-the-art multi-sensory space in the heart of Chessington World of Adventures Theme Park. With a large, versatile area to work with, we designed distinct sensory zones so multiple users could explore and engage at their own pace.

Inspired by Chessington’s zoo, we incorporated a textured foliage wall feature to create an immersive, calming jungle vibe. Mood lighting was added throughout to soften the space and provide a soothing atmosphere, helping users self-regulate, reduce overstimulation, and enjoy a relaxing break from the busy theme park environment.

The sensory room features a variety of interactive sensory equipment, including:

  • Bubble tubes, LED tubes, and our signature Fibre Optic Papillion Tube for visual stimulation and interaction.
  • UV fibre optic curtains, UV tactile panels, and UV-responsive carpet, perfect for creating engaging multi-sensory experiences
  • Wavy padded flooring and a waterfall-effect floor projector to enhance the calming, immersive environment
  • Interactive floor projectors to encourage movement, play, and sensory engagement

A standout feature is our fibre optic shower, loved by users of all ages and abilities. This immersive sensory equipment provides tactile and visual stimulation, allowing users to explore fibres, engage their senses, and enjoy a calming, interactive experience.

From the UV zones to the fibre optic lighting and interactive floor projections, every element was designed to promote relaxation, emotional regulation, and sensory engagement, making this multi-sensory space a truly unique and therapeutic experience within a busy theme park environment.
