We cater to a large array of markets, from calm rooms for special needs schools, to mainstream schools – primary and secondary, to colleges and hospices, care homes and assisted living spaces, parents at home and nurseries. We accept schools and NHS purchase orders. 

What is a de-escalation or calming room?

A de-escalation and calming room is a quiet, supportive sensory space designed to help someone calm down, regulate their emotions, and feel safe when they’re overwhelmed, upset, or overstimulated.You’ll see these rooms in places like schools, hospitals, mental health facilities, workplaces, theme parks and even football stadiums and airports

What it’s for

The goal is to prevent situations from escalating (like panic, anxiety, aggression, or shutdown) by giving a person space and tools to self-regulate—not to punish or isolate them.

What’s usually inside

It’s intentionally low-stimulus and comforting, for example:

  • Soft lighting (often dimmable colours or natural light)
  • Calming colours
  • Comfortable seating (padded plinths, bean bags, cushions, rocking chairs)
  • Sensory tools (stress balls, weighted blankets, fidget items)
  • Soothing sounds or silence
  • Calming visuals like nature images or waves
  • Subtle tactile products such as two way sequin panels
  • Small element of wall or floor padding for users to lay down and relax. 
  • Gentle aromas known to promote relaxation such as lavender. 

What it is not

❌ Not a punishment
❌ Not a “time-out” or detention
❌ Not a seclusion or restraint room (those are very different and controversial)

Why it works

  • A calming room helps users who are dysregulated because it gives their body and brain a chance to reset in a safe, low-stimulus environment.
  • It is the perfect room for Grounding techniques. What can they see? What can they touch? What can they smell? What colours can they name? etc 
  • Supports brain recovery: A calm space allows the prefrontal cortex (thinking part of the brain) to reconnect after the emotional system was overactive, helping them make better decisions and communicate more effectively.

All prices exclude VAT & Installation. Items can be delivered on a supply on basis. Price does not include delivery costs.
